Alexandra Bastedo
was born to Liberiana Dorina Rescagliova and Gilbert Lendon Bastedo. She had a
rich multicultural heritage, including French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch,
Scottish, and Native American roots. She attended Brighton and Hove High School
before studying drama at the Brighton School of Drama, where her interest in
acting flourished.
Career
Bastedo's acting
career began with her film debut in 13 Frightened Girls (1963). She gained
international recognition as Sharron Macready in The Champions. Fluent in
Italian, Spanish, French, and German, she co-presented Miss World competitions
with Peter Marshall in the 1980s. Her television appearances included roles in
The Saint, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), and Absolutely Fabulous. She also
appeared in films such as Casino Royale (1967) and Batman Begins (2005).
Family
In 1980, she
married Patrick Garland, a British director, writer, and actor. The couple
remained together until Garland's passing in 2013.
